Dr. Randy Furushima
The book of Psalms is the most reliable biblical resource for conversation with God about things that matter the most. Generation after generations of faithful people turn to the Psalms for help. It is a collection of songs that is called the “Prayer Book of the Bible.”
It contains many different kinds of prayers representing the entire range of human emotions. There are psalms that express gratitude and praise as well as psalms that express lament and complaint. Theologically, the book of Psalms challenges our present world of anxiety, scarcity, greed, self-sufficiency, denial and despair with trust, faith, promise of abundance, dependence on God, an insistence on telling the truth, a world of hope, and life-giving remembering.
