New Testament authors often quote or allude to the Old Testament, and they usually expect their readers to understand the meaning of those quotes in their original context. If we understand how ancient Jewish writers used such quotes, we will better understand many New Testament passages that contain quotations or allusions to the Old Testament. This seminar introduces key concepts for interpreting the New Testament’s use of the Old Testament and examines a variety of representative passages.
