This course has no musical skill-level requirements and is applicable for seasoned performers as well as beginners. This course is the second of five courses for Music Ministry Leadership Certificate and focuses on developing your musical and songwriting skills.
Students will be introduced to essential music theory and apply it to Christian songwriting lyrically and musically. Topics include song structures, dynamics, harmonies, melodies, scales and why they matter, songwriting, the relationship between music and its message, the difference between congregational music and personal music, and how to create a captivating yet biblical time of praise. By the end of the course, students will understand essential music theory, its place in worship, and be able to participate in their local music ministry.
